Abstract

   The research deals with the reality of human development in urban centers in Salah al-Din Governorate, reviewing the concept of development, its most important indicators and methods of measuring it, and geographical analysis of the reasons for its spatial disparity, and then standing on the most important challenges it faces. It was adopted, represented by education, health and income, and it was different between urban centers, which affected the values of the Development Index, which were divided into three levels in which the urban centers were organized. And the value of the Human Development Index in the general area of ​​the study was (0,739), and the highest value of the evidence appeared in the district of al-Dur, which is (0,784), and the lowest in Baiji (0,679), which reflected negatively on the value of the Deprivation Index, as its values ​​are inversely proportional to the values ​​of the Development Index. The study area, the deprivation index reached (0,216), and the highest value of the index appeared in Baiji (0,321), which is one of the areas classified by the Iraqi government as stricken, while the lowest value of the deprivation index appeared in the presence of the district of al-Dur, which is (0,216).
