Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

In light of the rapid development of generative AI tools, and in accordance with global standards of academic integrity, the Journal of Tikrit University for Humanities (JTUH) establishes the following guidelines to ensure the responsible and transparent use of these technologies in the preparation and evaluation of research:

First: AI and Authorship

• Under no circumstances can AI tools and models (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) be listed as an author or co-author of a manuscript. These systems lack the legal or ethical capacity to approve the work or assume responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the scientific content, which is a fundamental prerequisite for authorship eligibility.

Second: Transparency and Disclosure

• Researchers who have utilized AI tools at any stage of manuscript preparation (e.g., assistance in translation, refining linguistic and grammatical phrasing, gathering and organizing ideas) or in responding to reviewers' comments must explicitly disclose this usage.
• Disclosure must be made through a clear statement placed at the end of the manuscript (prior to the reference list) or within the "Methodology" section. This statement must specify the name of the tool used, its version, and the exact nature of the task it performed.

Third: Authors' Responsibility

• The absolute and full responsibility for the accuracy, validity, and originality of all components of the research rests exclusively with the human authors.
• Authors must critically and meticulously review any AI-generated outputs, ensuring they are free from scientific errors, bias, AI hallucinations, or plagiarism. The discovery of any fabricated or plagiarized AI-generated content will be treated as an explicit breach of publication ethics.
• The use of AI to generate, manipulate, or fabricate research data, questionnaires, or original statistical tables is strictly prohibited.

Fourth: AI Use by Reviewers and Editors

• To safeguard intellectual property rights and the confidentiality of unpublished manuscripts, peer reviewers and editorial board members are strictly prohibited from uploading or inputting any portion of the submitted manuscripts into open AI platforms for the purpose of summarization or evaluation. Such an action is considered a grave violation of the double-blind peer review policy and the principles of scientific research confidentiality.
