Ethical Approval Policy

Ethical considerations and the protection of the rights of individuals participating in humanities studies are a paramount priority for the Journal of Tikrit University for Humanities (JTUH). To ensure the highest standards of scientific integrity, the Journal requires researchers to strictly adhere to the following regulations.

First: Institutional Ethics Committees

• All research involving human interaction (such as field questionnaires, personal interviews, case studies, or direct observation) is subject to the prerequisite of obtaining prior and documented approval from the "Scientific Research Ethics Committee" at the researcher's institution or college.
• The editorial board reserves the right to request a copy of the official ethical approval document via the publishing management system (OJS) as part of the mandatory attachments upon manuscript submission.

Second: Informed Consent

• It is mandatory to obtain clear "informed consent" from all study participants after fully and transparently informing them of the research objectives, data utilization mechanisms, and their right to withdraw from the study at any time without consequences.
• If the study targets minors or vulnerable populations requiring special protection, written consent must be obtained from their parents or authorized legal guardians.
• If the study involves animal experiments—given that animals cannot provide consent—any potential harm must be minimized. Researchers must disclose the methodology, the extent of potential harm, mitigation or compensation strategies, and must obtain prior approval from the ethics committee at the researcher's institution.

Third: Privacy and Confidentiality

• Researchers are obligated to fully protect the identities of participants and the confidentiality of their data. The inclusion of names, photographs, or any personal details that could lead to the identification of the subjects is strictly prohibited, unless there is a compelling scientific necessity coupled with explicit and documented written consent from the participant to disclose their identity.

Fourth: Disclosure in the Manuscript

• Authors must include an explicit statement under the heading "Ethical Approval" within the "Methodology" section or at the end of the manuscript. This disclosure must specify the name of the entity that granted the ethical approval, the decision/protocol number (if applicable), and confirm that informed consent was obtained from the study sample.
