Effectiveness of a Training Program Based on the Visual Teaching Strategies on Developing the Visual Thinking for Student- Teachers in the Department of History in the Open Educational College/ Mosul Center
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed at investigating the following:
- Designing a training program based on visual teaching strategies for male and female student-teachers.
- Investigating the effectiveness of this program on developing visual thinking for male and female student-teachers.
The researcher depends on an experimental design of tow equivalent groups with pre- posttests. The first group is experimental and the second is control group. The experimental group (student-teachers) take the role of the training program, while the control group do not. The population consists of student-teachers in the department of History /Open Educational College /Mosul. It consists of 30 male and female teachers for the academic year (2018-2019). They were chosen intentionally. The sample was distributed among two equivalent groups. The first one is experimental includes (16) teachers and the second one control includes (14) teachers . The two groups were equivalent in such variables: intelligence, gender, years of occupation, sharing training courses, and pre-test in visual thinking. The researchers themselves take the role of trainers. The researchers prepared an instrument represented the visual thinking test, consisted of 30 items. The validity and reliability of the test have been tested and scored (0.81). After finishing the training program which lasted for a whole semester, the researcher adopted the visual thinking test among the two groups. The collected data has been analyzed statistically and the findings show that there is statistically significant difference between the mean score of developing ranks for the two groups in the two pre-posttests for visual thinking and for the benefit of the experimental male group. In the light of the finding above, the researchers set number of recommendation and suggestions.
