Effectiveness of a Training Program Based on the Visual Teaching Strategies on Developing Communication Skills for Student - Teachers in the Department of History in the open Educational College / Mosul Center

Abstract
This research aimed at investigating the following aims :
- Designing a training program according to visual teaching strategies for male and female student-teachers.
- Investigating the effectiveness of that program on developing the communication skills for male and female student-teachers.
The researcher adopted the experimental design of tow equivalent groups with pretests posttests. The first group is experimental and the second is control. The experimental group (student- teachers) take role of the training program, while the control group do not. The population consists of student-teachers in the department of History /Open Educational College /Mosul Center of 30 male and female teachers and (15) teachers for each groups. The two groups were equivalent in such variables as intelligence, gender, years in occupation, sharing training courses, and pre- test in communication skills. The researcher himself take the role of trainer. The researcher prepared an observational list for communication to observe the teaching role. The list consisted of 27 items distributed among such verbal skills as questioning, accepting question, debate and response, and the non-verbal skills, visual skills, listening skills, body movement and expressions. The observational list has been tested in validity and reliability which computed (0.83). After finishing the training program which lasted for a whole semester, the researcher adopted the instrument among the two groups. The collected data has been analyzed statistically and the finding is :
- There is statistically significant difference in the mean score of developing ranks between the pre-posttests in communication skills for the two groups and for the benefit of the experimental female (group).
In the light of the finding above, the researcher set number of recommendation and suggestions.
