The Attitude of the United States of America and Britain Regarding the Jewish Community in Syria 1974-1977

Abstract
The Jewish community has an ancient presence in Syria, dating back, according to historical sources, to the first millennium BC. It also had a distinct presence like other communities in Syria. Jews lived alongside other components of Syrian society, such as Muslims, Christians, and others. The Arab-Israeli conflict had an impact on the nature of relations between Jews in Arab countries and other components of society, especially Muslims. The events of 1947 had a profound impact on all Jews in Arab countries and on Syrian Jews in particular. The 1967 war had a major impact on them in disrupting relations between Jews and Muslims. As for the events of 1974, they are considered the distinctive event that took place there and prompted Western countries to intervene in Syria.
