Demographic and Social Characteristics of Obese Women in Salah al-Din Governorate in 2023

Abstract
The problem of obesity is one of the most prominent health and social issues facing societies in the modern era, as it is linked to a variety of health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Moreover, the effects of obesity extend to social and psychological aspects, making it a multidimensional issue worthy of study and research. In Salah al-Din Governorate, obesity among women constitutes a phenomenon that needs in-depth analysis to understand its demographic and social characteristics. By studying these characteristics, the factors affecting the spread of obesity among women are pointed out, whether related to age, educational level, marital status, or economic conditions. In addition to other variables, including the use of some medications and birth control pills, age, educational and agricultural status, and income level. To reach different geographical patterns in an attempt to show its concentration in the governorate, which is a contribution of geography with other sciences to bring the population to a better state of health and well-being, because this phenomenon has negative effects on the complex, including health effects, as it causes many diseases and social, psychological and economic effects, especially in light of the health and economic reality at the present time.
This research aims to analyze the demographic and social characteristics of obese women in Saladin Governorate for the year 2023, to provide a comprehensive understanding of this phenomenon and contribute to formulating effective strategies to address it. Studying the demographic, social, and economic characteristics of obese women is very important to find out the truth about the phenomenon, where it is concentrated, and what effect these characteristics have on obesity and overweight. The fact is that there are many variables that cause it. The purpose of this is to know the concentration of obese women according to these characteristics, after it was previously found that the phenomenon of obesity in women exceeds that of males, and to know its concentration according to educational levels, marriage, and economic levels, and calculate the residential density, number of family members, number of children, and ownership of its own means of transportation.
