مجاعة البطاطا ودورها في الهجرات الايرلندية الى ولاية كاليفورنيا 1845-1869

الملخص
عاشت ايرلندا ظروف اقتصادية صعبة في المدة من عام 1845-1852، اذ تعطلت الحياة في جميع مفاصلها بسبب انتشار مرض فطري اصاب المحصول الرئيس فيها لا وهو البطاطا ، ذلك المحصول الذي شكل عماد اقتصادها بل لقمة العيش مرتبطة بهِ ،لذلك شاع الفقر والجوع والامراض فيها فمات الالاف منهم ثم اضطروا للهجرة الى عدة اماكن لاسيما الى الولايات المتحدة الامريكية البلد الذي يوجد فيه الاف من اصول ايرلندية هاجروا سابقا اليها .
هي الاخرى الولايات المتحدة الامريكية البلد الفتي ذو الاقتصاد النشط الذي يبحث عن انسا يخدمون مصالحه التي باتت تتطور يوم بعد يوم لاسيما في الغرب الامريكي حينها صادف ان كاليفورنيا اصبحت تحت الحكم الامريكي تلك الولاية الغنية بمواردها الطبيعية واراضيها الشاسعة ، اكتسبت شهرة اخرى جراء اكتشاف الذهب فيها بكميات كبيرة لذا كانت وجهة الكثير من مهاجري ايرلندا اليها للعمل في مناجم الذهب وتعويض ما خسروه في لادهم .
من هناك انطلقت تلك الهجرات لتصيغ مع هجرات اخرى مجتمع كاليفورنيا الجديد الذي كان شعاره الثراء السريع يتحقق بالهجرة الى كاليفورنيا والسعي في حمى الذهب الى المجد الاقتصادي.
