Abstract

   Immigration and immigrants from Europe played a major role in the formation of the social and economic structure of the European colonies in the new world. Therefore, German immigration was one of those that contributed to the formation of American society during the period of the influx of those immigrations, as it formed its elements from religious and military families, while families were looking for wealth and the spirit of the adventure has gained its beautiful urge.Economic history has great importance in understanding the events that shaped the borders of a country. That state of expansion witnessed by the United States of America using the method of annexation, either through purchase or occupation, was prevalent in the wake of the founding of the United States of America. Therefore, we find that American history is full of issues whose focus was to obtain new lands to be incorporated into the federation.The importance of this study comes to examine an era of the economic history of the United States of America, which was not under American sovereignty before 1848, but the American military and political intervention enabled it to negotiate and buy it with other large areas with a sum of money to start at the beginning of that year a new page of California history written with water Gold tops its news in the world's newspapers.  It included an introduction, the first topic that we followed the stages of German migrations to the new world, then its contribution to social and military affairs before the independence of the United States of America.  As for the second topic: it focused in detail on John Sutter's efforts to immigrate to the United States of America and his economic activity in California.While the third topic was entitled: The position of the American administration on the economic activity of John Sutter 1848-1888, and it was devoted to the discovery of gold in California in 1848 and the position of the American administration regarding the nationalization of the economic activity of John Sutter and its acquisition until his death in 1888. While the research ended with a conclusion that included the most important recommendations and results.
