الملخص
تعد مدينة سفوان من المدن الحدودية مع دولة الكويت , حيث تشكل اهمية جيوستراتيجية في قوة الدولة العراقية اذ تشكل حركة البدو الرحل والعمليات التجارية النواة الاولى لنشوء منطقة الدراسة فأصبحت من المحطات النقلية المهمة في المنطقة وهذا بدوره اعطاها اهمية لكونها حجر الاساس في العلاقات العراقية الكويتية سياسياً واقتصادياً , اضافة الى ذلك فإنها تعد الجسر الارضي الذي يربط العراق بمنطقة الخليج العربي مما اعطاها اهمية استثنائية لكونها بوابة العراق الاقتصادية ومسرحاً للأحداث السياسية فهي اول من تأثر بالصراعات والنزاعات السياسية , فقد شهدت اهم الاحداث والمتغيرات السياسية المتمثلة بالغزو العراقي للكويت عام 1990 وما تبعه من احداث وصولاً الى فترة الانفتاح الاقتصادي صوب الخليج العربي بعد عام 2003 .
