The Geopolitical Impacts of NATO Upon Russian National Security

Abstract
Russia attempted to secure its borders on the Ukrainian side by occupying portions of the country, which is a geopolitical response to NATO's expansion. However, NATO's expansion towards Ukraine had political ramifications. Russia was incensed by NATO's geopolitical expansion to the east and its proximity to Russia's borders. There are various factors contributing to the strained relations between Russia and Ukraine, as well as with the European Union countries. These factors extend beyond political implications and also encompass economic considerations, specifically the supply of oil, gas, and coal. European countries heavily rely on importing these hydrocarbon materials from Russia. Any tension arising between Russia and NATO could potentially disrupt this supply. An examination of the hydrocarbon flow to Russia.
