Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cooperative learning in developing the calligraphy skills of students at the Institute of Fine Arts. The research problem stemmed from the following question: To what extent is cooperative learning effective in developing the calligraphy skills of students at the Institute of Fine Arts?

The research was limited to students at the Institute of Fine Arts in Hawija District during the 2025-2026 academic year. The researcher adopted an experimental approach with a pre-test/post-test design for a single group. The research population consisted of 119 students, while the research sample comprised 15 second-year students in the Fine Arts Department who received training in Kufic calligraphy skills according to teaching plans based on cooperative learning.

The researcher developed a cognitive achievement test and a skills test to measure the level of performance in Arabic calligraphy. The validity and reliability of both tests were verified. Fifty-seven behavioral objectives were formulated according to Bloom's Taxonomy of the Cognitive Domain and Simpson's Taxonomy of the Psychomotor Domain.
