Abstract

Algeria's ability to establish treaties with European and foreign nations enabled it to assert its influence by exerting control over the Mediterranean and imposing royalties on these nations. In spite of the progress made in fostering diplomatic ties between Algeria and European nations, the occurrence of recurrent assaults on European vessels has persisted. These nations collaborated in forming alliances with the aim of deterring Algerian maritime activities and restricting the freedom of trade in the Mediterranean region.
