Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the effectiveness of an educational program based on the Seven Habits of Stephen R. Covey in reducing emotional sensitivity among middle school students. The researcher developed an emotional sensitivity scale and extracted its psychometric properties of validity and reliability. An educational program based on the Seven Habits of Stephen R. Covey was developed and its validity was verified by presenting it to a group of experts in educational and psychological sciences. The program was applied to 80 students who obtained the highest scores on the emotional sensitivity scale, distributed into two groups, one experimental (scientific, literary) and the other control (scientific, literary). A set of statistical methods appropriate to the research procedures were used, including Pearson's correlation coefficient, the t-test for one sample, the t-test for two independent samples, the t-test for two paired samples, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and eta equation. The research results showed a decrease in emotional sensitivity among the research sample, and that the program had a significant effect in reducing emotional sensitivity in favor of the experimental group.
