The Evolution of Maps and Their Uses Through the Ages: A Study in Geographical Thought

Abstract
Maps are one of the most important geographical tools that have contributed to documenting and analyzing natural and human phenomena throughout history, This research aims to study the evolution of maps from ancient times to the modern era, focusing on the role of geographical thought in improving their accuracy and functionality, The study explores different historical stages of map-making, from Babylonian and Egyptian maps, through the achievements of Muslim geographers in the Middle Ages, to the cartographic revolution during the Renaissance and the technological advancements of the modern era. Additionally, the research examines the various application.
