The Impact of Using Cooperative Learning Method Compared to Traditional Method on Academic Achievement and Mathematical Thinking Skills Among Intermediate Stage Students (A Case Study of Schools in Tikrit City)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research explores the effect of cooperative learning on student performance. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a sample of 60 female students from Tikrit Private School. Special educational plans based on cooperative learning were utilized, alongside an academic achievement test and scales to measure mathematical thinking skills. The results indicated that the experimental group, which employed the cooperative learning method, achieved higher scores in post-tests compared to the control group, demonstrating the effectiveness of the applied educational strategies. Notable differences in average performance in the tests revealed a positive impact of these methods on learning, emphasizing the importance of using innovative teaching approaches. Finally, effect size calculations affirmed that these educational strategies had significant impacts, calling for broader adoption to enhance students' mathematical thinking and improve their academic achievement.
