Assessing the Level of Traffic on Salah al-Din Governorate's Major Highways
Main Article Content
Abstract
By examining the geographic variance in the average amount of all vehicles and passengers on the main roadways, it seeks to investigate the amount of traffic on the major transportation routes in Salah al-Din Governorate. Hence, it is necessary to conduct conventional research in order to determine the magnitude of vehicular and passenger mobility on the primary transportation routes. The field survey, conducted in September and October 2023, provides an overview of the average traffic volume. The survey measured the average automatic speed three times a day on the main road axes, rather than relying on the 12-hour average daily speed consumption. Tikrit direction in Salah al-Din Governorate, namely the city of Baghdad, has the highest traffic volume compared to other key road axes. It consists of around 56,220 cars, which make up 42% of the total daily traffic. Regarding the Tikrit axis, it achieved an approximate volume of the daily traffic volume on this center amounts to 44,304 cars, accounting for about 33% of the entire daily vehicle traffic on the Tikrit-Kirkuk axis. The primary transportation routes are less efficient in handling everyday traffic due to the increased average amount of vehicles. Out of the total number of cars necessary (34,176), I am requesting 25% of the daily traffic volume, taking into account the changes in traffic patterns throughout daylight hours, as well as factors such as speed and transportation density.
