Abstract

The heads of departments are academic administrative leaders who are considered as an intellectual necessity and as a unit to make decisions about the nature of curricula, students and professors, those decisions that have become difficult to take in the university administration efficiently and accurately, away from the academic departments’ contribution and recommendations, according to their direct experiences in the subject of the controversial decision. Academic departments are located in university organizations; the location of the heart from the body, despite being the smallest unit of the university organization, given that universities consist of colleges, institutes and departments, the reality indicates that they are the cornerstones of the university.

The success of the educational administrative process usually depends on the availability of wise leadership, as the educational leader plays an important role in setting goals, drawing methods, influencing subordinates and urging them to work. However, leadership is a relative process, as the individual may be a leader in one situation and a follower in another. Hence, the concept of leadership is linked to the concept of role and responsibility, and leadership is linked to the emotional personality pattern of the leader.
