Abstract

    World War I affected the overall situation of the Algerians in that era, as the population suffered from a set of provisions imposed by the French occupation on them to preserve its gains and interests despite the suffering of the population, it imposed a number of laws that caused the displacement of a number of young people and the spread of unemployment and the migration of others internally To urban cities or to France or neighboring countries, the abuse of the population extended to the unity of the family after it tried to dismantle society by restricting them by imposing taxes and converting farmers into workers, and depleting the productive and agricultural resources produced by the population, as well as laws Another unfair, such as the law of the people, which imposes on the individual Algerian a series of penalties that are implemented immediately, including imprisonment, fine, forced labor, and others, the Algerian did not get the most basic rights demanded by notables and intellectuals; because of the opposition of the settlers for every gesture of hope that may lead to reform their society, to keep the Algerian at their mercy Thus, the Algerian population experienced poor social conditions during the war and lost a large number of their children as a result of their participation in it.
