The Epistemological Discourse of Postmodern Art
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research is concerned with the study of the epistemological discourse of postmodern art. It is divided into three sections. The first section is devoted to the methodological framework of the research, where it included its problem, which was determined by the question of: What is the epistemological discourse of postmodern art? Assuming that the artistic movements of postmodern art have a epistemological discourse. The research aims to identify the nature of the epistemological discourse of postmodern art, and the features, characteristics, and advantages of this discourse. This section also included the importance and need of research, as well as its limitations, its deductive methodology, and the definition of its terms (discourse, knowledge, postmodernism). The second section deals with the concept of epistemological discourse, the conditions for its achievement, its types and functions. The third section is concerned with studying the nature of the epistemological discourse of postmodern art, and included its common foundations. The research reached a set of results, the most prominent of which were:
- The epistemological discourse of postmodern art is linked to technology and multimedia, as they are the real carriers of the epistemological function, so the work of art through technologies has been characterized by impressive factors that have no limits in some arts that do not have real themes.
- The epistemological discourse of postmodern art is characterized by the expression of personal experience and the focus on the artistic discourse on individual experiences and personal identity, as art is self-centered and expresses the artist's interaction with his inner and outside worlds.
- The epistemological discourse of postmodern art has shown a longing for the past in most postmodern artworks, not rejecting and repudiating the past, but reproducing it.
- The epistemological discourse of postmodern art was characterized by challenging traditional classifications of art, with the aim of removing barriers between them, as artists combined the various expressive styles and techniques used in their arts and dissolved the boundaries between traditional arts.
