Cognitive Bias and Its Relation to the Level of Ambition among University Students

Abstract
The current research aims to identify the level of cognitive bias and the level of ambition according to the variable sex and the variable specialization as well as knowing the relationship between them in a sample of university students. The basic research sample (100) male and female students from Tikrit University. The researchers applied a ready means to measure the cognitive bias, which is the scale of (Yasiri, 2017). The scale consists of (41) paragraph. Each paragraph has five alternatives to the response. Stability was extracted by retesting. It reached to (0.83). In the Alpha Kronbach method, the coefficient of stability was 0.81. As for the second variable, the researchers adopted the scale of ambition by Jabari (2007). The scale consists of (40) paragraphs in front of each of four alternatives and after the extraction of honesty and consistency of the variables the researchers applied the measurements on the sample research. The results showed:
• University students enjoy a high level of cognitive bias.
• There is no difference in cognitive bias depending on the gender variable (male- female) and variable specialization (scientific- human).
• University students have an ambitious level.
• There is a difference in the level of ambition among students according to gender variable and for males.
• There is a difference in the level of ambition of students according to the variable of specialization and in favor of scientific.
Through the results, the researchers presented a number of recommendations and proposals.
