Abstract

The study area is located northeast of Diyala Governorate within the Khanaqin district. It is located between latitudes (18.34-36, 34) north and longitudes (44.41-40, 45) east. Due to the importance of these projects in Iraq in general and the study area in particular, the area of the study area (850.8 km2) and the study of the irrigation and drainage network is important because it reflects the investment of irrigation projects and identify the environment surrounding the project to find appropriate solutions to the problems suffered by these projects and develop scientific plans that reflect the reality of irrigation and how to achieve the irrigation process correctly in light of the water scarcity that the country suffers from, especially in recent years in light of external challenges and internal mismanagement. As well as determining the quantities of water with which these projects are equipped and according to the actual needs for irrigation. The number of agricultural districts was 47. The study focused on examining the reality of the state of irrigation projects in the district of Qara Tappah in terms of hydrology and distributed axes around the study of the geographical distribution of the irrigation and drainage network, and equips the Diyala River irrigation projects within the district of Qarah Tappah irrigation water and the design discharge of the irrigation project Qarah Tappah (25 m 3 / s), while the project irrigation Kashkool drainage design (15 m3/s) The study area thus became a vast irrigation network. The length of the Qarah Tappeh irrigation project is (55 km), the number of irrigation channels is (52) channels, the number of trocars is (13), and the project includes (18) agricultural districts. The Kashkool project has a length of (41 km) and the number of channels (26) channels and the number of trocars (6) and the project includes (10) agricultural provinces.
