The Position of the United States on the Ethiopian Refugees 1981-1984

Abstract
The goal of the study is to find out what the United States did about Ethiopian refugees from 1981 to 1984. Ethiopians started coming to the United States in 1980, when the US Congress opened the door to them as refugees. After a series of decisions in the US House of Representatives and Senate, the US State Department also kept 15,000 Ethiopians in the country. At the time, Ethiopian refugees made up about 85% of African immigrants because the Ethiopian government kept breaking people's rights. As an emergency reaction to the situation caused by the large number of migrants, the United States also helped Sudan take in Ethiopian refugees.
