The Explicit Sign Talk in the Poets of Ghazal in the Umayyad Era: Negative Sign Talk / Al-washi as a model
Main Article Content
Abstract
Umayyad poetry has a wide range of personas, such as the slanderer, the rat, the observer, the liar, the harasser, the eye, and the blamer, reflecting the diverse range of functions played by the many social classes in Umayyad society.
Virginal ghazal authors' negative indications signified a widespread phenomenon and a situation of societal rejection of all unions that do not conform to the nature and beliefs of the community. Hence, it developed into a sophisticated physical structure that retained its ceremonial function. Since they are like a siege that ties these lovers, putting them in a perpetual state of discontent and deprivation, they invented sign language, gestures, and winks. The poet used virgin poetry as a means of protesting society pressure by expressing himself via the medium of censorship.
