Abstract

This research handles the distribution of school libraries in the center of Tikrit city and determines the need of schools for libraries in some areas that lack the presence of libraries like the rest of the schools in other areas, as well as highlight the role of the work of library services in the growth and progress of the educational process, according to the increasing of the students' needs for obtaining knowledge in all cognitive fields, and to reach how to achieve a better understanding of school libraries and to identify ways to strengthen its positive role as a scientific and cultural resource contributes to the process of education and development of students' potential and intellectual output.The study concludes a spatial disparity in the level and mechanism of the distribution of school libraries in the study area according to the importance and location of the concentration of these schools in certain areas depending on the size of their population. Moreover, it tries to depict the other issues related to the irregular distribution in other sites mainly to the deficiencies in the planning of the educational sector in the aforementioned field and the nature of the economic and social variables that push towards the enhancement or decline of the planning side in drawing the distribution of libraries.
