Water Erosion and its Measurement Methods in Bebaz Subdistrict
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research aims to study water erosion in the Bebaz (Bawo Noor) district, which is one of the administrative units in Kalar district, Sulaymaniyah Governorate, which is located in southeastern Iraqi Kurdistan, with an area of (356) km2. At a rate of 21% of the area of Kalar district, which is (1695 km2).
The research identified the types of water erosion in the study area, and the Fournier equation was used to determine the ability of rain erosion, in addition to using the Gavriloc model to determine the risks of soil erosion and reach the risks of water erosion (z). The study concluded that the erosion risks are divided according to the Gavrilovic model in the study area into three categories: the first is areas of weak erosion from (0.2-0.4) with an area of (126.7) km2 and a percentage estimated at (35.59%). The second category is areas of medium erosion from (0.41-0.7) with an area of (140.6) km2, while the third category, which is high, is limited to (0.71-1) with an area of (88.7) km2 and a percentage estimated at (24.92%).
