Abstract

This study investigates the calculation of surface runoff volume based on the hydrological parameters of the Wadi Bashar basin, which flow into the Tigris River in Nineveh Governorate. The basin has an area of 100.8 m2. The work steps involved the integration of data from the Digital Elevation Model DEM_ Depth of Rain Soil Land Uses and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). This integration allowed for the acquisition of (CN) values, which are crucial for understanding other flow characteristics such as (QP) - QV-Q. The entire process was conducted within the geographic information systems. The hydrological significance of the Wadi Bashar Basin was assessed using a mathematical model (SCS_CN), which revealed an average (CN) value of (71,8) and the average depth. The measured runoff was recorded as 2,262.5 units, while the surface runoff volume (QV) was measured at 10,256,855 cubic meters. The peak flow value was determined to be 150 QP m 3 s. The aforementioned findings serve as a valuable resource for hydrological investigations with the objective of enhancing the area.
