Abstract

The political situation in the Central Maghreb region during the reign of the Zayani family witnessed terrible events, which resonated with the Islamic Maghreb in general and the Central Maghreb in particular, the region having suffered from a state of political instability due to the continued interference of the two neighboring countries, the Marinid and the Hafsidis, in the internal affairs of the state of Zianide. This had led to a state of political chaos, instability and insecurity in the region. Many Zianid rulers tried to resist these external challenges to defend their state, but events showed that they were powerless to prevent this, so their state remained unable to oppose the Marinids and Hafsids except for a few occasions, and each of their neighbors invaded and besieged the Zianid lands on several occasions and were able to besiege and occupy the capital Tlemcen, particularly by Beni Marin, and overthrow the throne of Bani Zayan in limited periods of time and successive. Through this article, we will try to follow the evolution of these events and show the extent of their impact on the central Maghreb (Algeria) and their impact on the weakness of the Zianide regime, and it is strange that this does not happen. It had not affected the cultural, intellectual and economic ties between them despite this turmoil in political relations.
