الملخص
إن تاريخ الدول والشعوب كُتب بما قدمه قادة تلك الدول وما بذلوا من جهود لتغيير واقع بلدانهم وشعوبهم, لذلك سلط هذا البحث الضوء على الجهود التي بذلها الشيخ عبدالله بن قاسم آل ثاني في تاريخ قطر السياسي والاقتصادي , ونجاحه في الخروج من التبعية العثمانية والاعتماد على البريطانيين لتأسيس إمارة قطر بزعامة آل ثاني , كما استطاع خلال مدة حكمه التي تجاوزت أكثر من ثلاثة عقود ونصف أن يؤسس لبعض المشاريع الاقتصادية المهمة لبلاده كالمطار والموانئ والتعاقد مع الشركات الأجنبية للتنقيب عن النفط , كما أقام علاقات سياسية جيدة مع البلدان العربية المحيطة والقريبة من شبه جزيرة قطر وأن يتخلص من الأخطار القريبة من حدود بلاده.
