الملخص

الحرب الأهلية في اليمن أيار - يوليو 1994، هي حرب نشبت بين حكومة اليمن في صنعاء وأعضاء الحزب الاشتراكي اليمني ، للمطالبة بانفصال اليمن الجنوبي عن اليمن الشمالي. كانت نتيجة الحرب هي هزيمة القوات المسلحة التابعة لليمن الجنوبي وفرار معظم قادة الحزب الاشتراكي اليمني وانفصاليين آخرين .


        أما  حيدر أبو بكر العطاس ، رئيس الوزراء في جمهورية اليمن الديمقراطية الشعبية استمر بمنصب رئيس الوزراء ، ولكن حكومته كانت غير فعالة بسبب الاقتتال الداخلي. المفاوضات المستمرة بين القادة في الشمال والجنوب أسفرت عن توقيع وثيقة العهد والاتفاق في العاصمة الأردنية عمان يوم 20 فبراير 1994. وبالرغم من ذلك ، اشتدت حدة الاشتباكات حتى اندلعت الحرب الاهلية في أوائل مايو 1994.
