الملخص
استطاع المستشرقون ان يتابعوا التاريخ الإسلامي بطريقة لافتة للنظر حتى انهم دخلوا الى جزئيات الاحداث التاريخية ، ولا نريد ان نصدر احكاما عن ما كتبوه الا اننا تستوقفنا اراء لابد من اعادة النظر فيها خاصة عندما تكون متناقضة مع توجهات العرب أو تبين مدى قوة الشرق على فرض ارادته على الغرب ومن تلك الجوانب هي شخصية صلاح الدين الايوبي، اذ ان الاوربيين وبالتحديد المستشرقون من مختلف الانتماءات العرقية ومختلف المدارس والدول، قدموا كتابات كثيرة عن شخصية صلاح الدين الايوبي ومعاركه مع الصليبيين، وكفاءته، وقدراته الادارية والعسكرية، والاخلاقية حتى انهم فضلوه على قادتهم واصبح انموذجاً للقيادة ، وهذا الوعي كان وراء اختياره عنوانا للبحث والذي يراد منه الوصول إلى آراء أهم مستشرق حول صلاح الدين اذ انه يمثل عصارة الآراء الغربية والاستشراقية فضلاً عن نزاهته وقربه من الحقيقة.
