جون ويكليف ودوره السياسي والفكري في إنكلترا (1320-1384)

الملخص
كان جون ويكليف من المصلحين ذوي المعرفة العلمية المتفحصة والمقام الخلقي الرفيع , وكانت آراؤه بمثابة حجر الاساس بالنسبة لحركة الاصلاح الديني , ليس في انكلترا فحسب , وانما في غرب أوربا بأكملها , فقد كان ويكليف رجل دين على قدر كبير من إستيعاب إصول الديانة المسيحية , هذا وقد ترقى في السلم الاكاديمي داخل جامعة أكسفورد , فقد عين عميدا لأقدم كلياتها , وشيئا" فشيئا" صار من المقربين لدى الملك ,حتى أصبح القسيس الخاص بالقصر الملكي وشجع كل ذلك جون ويكليف على الإقدام وإعلان آرائه على الملأ , وعلى الرغم من ميول آرائه ناحية السياسة العامة للدولة في بداية الأمر , إلا أنه في غالبية آرائه اتجه نحو الاصلاح الديني ,تأمل ويكليف أحوال الكنيسة من حوله , وما كانت تعانيه من فساد , وهداه عقله إلى إصدار مجموعة من المقالات والمواعظ التي تحتوي على كثير من السخط على رجال الدين , وانطبعت تلك المقالات بطابع من النزاهة والشجاعة , وجعلت من ويكليف طليعة من طلائع حرية الفكر وصراحة القول في إنكلترا , ولم تستهدف رسالة ويكليف طبقة المثقفين فحسب ,بل استهدفت سائر طبقات المجتمع , اذ نادى بأن تكون المواعظ الدينية والكتب المقدسة باللغة الإنكليزية لا اللاتينية , الامر الذي دفعه نحو تبني مشروع ترجمة الكتاب المقدس إلى اللغة الإنكليزية .
من هنا يمكن القول ,إن تعاليم ويكليف كانت ملائمة للروح القومية الإنكليزية وفسر ذلك سرعة أنتشارها داخل الأوساط كافة في البلاد ,خاصة وهي معادية للبابوية , وكانت الأخيرة تحظى بعدم التأييد داخل البلاد , ومن ثم فهناك ترحيب لكل ما يكشف سياستها ويظهر وجهها الحقيقي , وجل الأمر إن حركة ويكليف حققت نتائج لابأس بها على مستويات عدة , ونقصد بذلك المستوى الحكومي والمستوى الشعبي والمستوى المذهبي وأخيرا المستوى الخارجي
