الملخص

ناقش البحث الموقف الفرنسيَّ من انقلاب أديب الشِّيشكليِّ الثالث في التَّاسع عشر من كانون الأوَّل عام 1949م ضمن سلسلة الانقلابات الَّتي شهدتها سورية أثناء مدَّة قصيرة, وعدُّ الموقف الفرنسي من القضايا المثيرة للجدل, إذ فتحت أبوابها أمام البعثات العسكرية السورية, وزودت الجيش السوري بالأسلحة والمعدات, بهدف تحسين علاقاتها وعدم وقوع سورية في دائرة الاتفاقية العراقية البريطانية وعدم وقوعها تحت النفوذ البريطاني, وابعاد سورية عن مشروع الاتحاد بعد اعلان سامي الحناوي مشروع الاتحاد بين سورية والعراق الذي أحدث انقسامًا بين أفراد الجيش السوري, وعدم رغبة أديب الشيشكلي في التضحية بالنظام الجمهوري لحساب النظام الملكي في العراق ، شكل العقيد أديب الشيشكلي بعد نجاح الانقلاب المجلس الحربي الأعلى؛  وكانت مهمته اتخاذ القرارات المهمة في المسائل الأساسية في البلاد واستطاع عن طريق دهائه وصلابته ومهارته السياسية السيطرة على بقية الضباط القائمين بالانقلاب؛ لأنه أكثر ضبطاً للنفس وأكثر دراية بالشؤون السياسية في البلاد من سامي الحناوي، فاتبع أسلوباً سياسياً وسطاً بين أسلوب حسني الزعيم الفردي وموقف سامي الحناوي المتسامح، فتخلى عن المناصب العليا في الجيش والدولة للقادة العسكريين , واستقبل الشعب السوري الانقلاب بشعور يشوبه القلق والشك في نفوس المواطنين، بسبب التجربة المريرة التي مر بها إبان انقلاب حسني الزعيم وانقلاب سامي الحناوي, وعلى الرغم من التأييد الفرنسي لانقلاب أديب الشيشكلي فلا يوجد أي دليل على الدور الفرنسي في الانقلاب، وإنما قام به أديب الشيشكلي مع الضباط مستقلين عن أي تأثير خارجي.
