الملخص
تناول البحث علاقات زنجبار الخارجية مع الدول الغربية والأوربية 1856-1870 وهي مدة حكم السلطان ماجد بن سعيد، تطرق المبحث الأول إلى علاقات زنجبار مع الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية والتي ترجع إلى عهد السيد سعيد بن سلطان الذي وقع أول معاهدة تجارية مع الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية عام 1833 لتنظيم العلاقات بين البلدين وكذلك إلى دور السلطان ماجد بعد وفاة والده لمواصلة الاهتمام بتطوير تلك العلاقات وزيادة التبادل التجاري وتأسيس الوكالات التجارية، وتضمن المبحث الثاني للدراسة العلاقات التجارية بين بريطانيا وزنجبار والمعاهدات التجارية التي وقعها السلطان ماجد مع بريطانيا عام 1864م لتحريم تجارة الرقيق.
ووضح المبحث الثالث العلاقات التجارية بين زنجبار وفرنسا ودور السلطان ماجد بن سعيد بتطوير تلك العلاقات وتقديم التسهيلات الكمركية للتجار الفرنسيين.
اما المبحث الرابع والأخير فتناول العلاقات التجارية بين الولايات الألمانية وزنجبار والإجراءات التي اتخذها السلطان ماجد بن سعيد لتطوير العلاقات وعقد معاهدة 1859 التي نظمت العلاقات التجارية بين البلدين وسهلت عملية التبادل التجاري وحرية الإقامة والبيع والشراء وتحديد الرسوم الكمركية.
