الملخص
تتناول الدراسة تأثير الكاتبات اللاتي استخدمن القرن التاسع عشر كوسيلة للدعوة إلى تحسين دور المرأة غير المتكافئ في المجتمع والأدب. اهتمت الدراسة بالكاتبتين و أظهرت الكاتبة شارلوت برونتي في روايتها (جين آير) أن المرأة تمكنت من التغلب على الحواجز لتحقيق السيادة والاستقلال قبل الزواج. بينما كيت شوبان وروايتها (الصحوة) التي غيّرت موقف بطلها اتجاه دور الأم والزوجة في الزواج الفيكتوري التقليدي من خلال رفض المناصب المخصصة. من خلال تحليل دقيق للتصور العام للكاتبات خلال القرن التاسع عشر وكذلك المفاهيم الشعبية التي استخدمتهما شوبان وبرونتي لإظهار ضيق الثقافة الأبوية وغيابها. تتكلم الروايات على زيادة الوعي باستغلال النساء وتساعد على خلق طريق إلى تحرر المرأة والمساواة بين الجنسين الذي طال انتظاره فيما يتعلق بحقوق الإنسان الأساسية في الحرية خلال هذا الوقت. ستلقي الدراسة الضوء على أوجه التشابه بين الروايتين اللتين تصوران المجتمع الفيكتوري.
