تطور الواقع الصحي في سورية 1946-1966

الملخص
كانت الحالة الصحية في سورية قبل الاستقلال تعاني من التدهور في جميع الخدمات لاسيما في القرى، لذلك اهتمت الحكومات السورية فيما بعد الاستقلال بتطوير الخدمات والمؤسسات الصحية ، ففي عام 1946م تم إنشاء وزارة الصحة والإسعاف ، وفي عام 1947م تم تعديل نظام إيفاد البعثات للإخصائيين بهدف رفع مستوى الأطباء العاملين في المؤسسات الصحية، وفي عام 1948م تم زيادة الاعداد المتخرجة بهدف رفع المستوى الطبي العام لأطباء الصحة والأطباء الممارسين، وفي عام 1949م اهتمت الحكومة بإنشاء بعض المستوصفات في المناطق النائية ، اما في عام 1951م تم تفعيل برامج للتثقيف الصحي بالتعاون مع منظمة الصحة العالمية في إطار برنامج المساعدة الفنية للأمم المتحدة، وفي عام 1952م عملت الحكومة على توفير مياه للشرب فضلاً عن مكافحة الأمراض المنتشرة مثل البلهارسيا والاهتمام بالتوعية الإرشادية، وفي عام 1953م تم الاهتمام بزيادة انشاء المستشفيات الجديدة، وخلال المدة 1954 – 1957م استمر الاهتمام بالصحة والخدمات الصحية كما تم انشاء مركز لمكافحة السل في دمشق عام 1954م للقضاء على هذا المرض وكان يعمل بجودة وكفاءة وخدم الكثير من المرضى في جميع انحاء المدن السورية.
