Main Article Content
Abstract
The study is conducted in Iraq / Salah al-Din Governorate / Dhuluiya side. It aims to know the effect of the strategy of activating the previous knowledge on the achievement of the second intermediate grade students in the subject of history and developing their cognitive thinking Confirming that the two sample groups are equal, the research’s sample consists of (64) students, divided into (31) experimental group students, and (33) control group students. The researcher teaches the two groups the historical topics and thus prepares a test that measures the level of student cognitive response. The results show the superiority of the experimental group students who studied according to the strategy of activating the previous knowledge in comparison with the control group students who studied according to the usual way—a matter that confirms that teaching history by means of the above mentioned strategy is more effective than teaching it in the usual way.
