Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to investigate the reality of implementing reflective teaching principles within the academic preparation programs at the Open College of Education. It specifically seeks to reveal the extent to which student-teachers practice critical thinking and self-assessment skills regarding their teaching performance. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, involving a purposive sample of 25 male and female students from Al-Hawija branch. Data were collected via a questionnaire covering three main dimensions from a reflective perspective: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results indicated a high level of cognitive awareness regarding reflective teaching principles; however, field application faced several challenges, most notably time constraints and a continued reliance on traditional methods. The research concludes with the necessity of integrating reflective aspects into academic curricula to enhance students' professional competencies. Furthermore, the study recommends intensifying training workshops for students at Al-Hawija branch on how to utilize reflective practices to improve learning outcomes and professional development.
