Academic Rebellion among University Students Preparation
Main Article Content
Abstract
The current study aims to identify academic rebellion among university students, as well as the differences between university students according to the gender variable (males–females), and likewise according to the specialization variable (scientific–humanities).
The researcher adopted the descriptive correlational approach. He prepared a scale to measure academic rebellion. The current study included students from the University of Mosul (third year), morning study, from both males and females and the two specializations (scientific and humanities) for the academic year 2025-2026, with a total number of 43,247 male and female students distributed across 24 faculties of the university. The sample of the current study consisted of 400 participants, distributed as follows: 200 male students and 200 female students, represented by 216 from the scientific specialization and 184 from the humanities specialization. The research sample was drawn using simple random sampling.
The researcher used several statistical tools, including the t-test for one sample and two independent samples (chi-square, Pearson correlation coefficient, Cronbach's alpha equation), in addition to the arithmetic mean and standard deviation. By applying the scale and statistically analyzing the data, the researcher arrived at a set of important results, including that university students at the University of Mosul do not exhibit academic rebellion, and there are statistically significant differences according to the gender variable in favor of males. There are no statistically significant differences between students in the specializations (scientific–humanities) in academic rebellion.
