Main Article Content
Abstract
Urban expansion is on the rise worldwide, with more people living in cities than ever before. As cities continue to grow, there is an urgent need to ensure that urban development is sustainable, environmentally friendly, and socially inclusive. Sustainable development practices in urban planning have emerged as a critical approach to addressing these challenges and creating livable, resilient, and environmentally friendly cities. Creating sustainable cities is a recent and important step in urban planning, as this concept is based on achieving a balance between urban development and environmental and social considerations. Sustainable cities are characterized by their ability to develop sustainably and meet the needs of generations. They are created to provide constructive solutions to many urban challenges such as pollution, carbon emissions, and traffic congestion. Environmental sustainability goals in urban planning include enhancing the quality of life for residents and preserving surrounding ecosystems. Sustainable urban planning is one of the most important factors contributing to achieving environmental sustainability in modern cities. This type of planning focuses on reducing environmental impact and optimally utilizing natural resources, while adhering to the principles of comprehensive and integrated planning.
