Rumors and their elationship to social awareness among students of Imam University College

Abstract
The current research aims to identify :
Rumors among students at Imam University College-
-Statistically significant differences in rumors according to the gender variable (males – females)
Social awareness among students at Imam University College. -
-Statistically significant differences in social awareness according to the gender variable (males – females).
-The nature of the relationship between rumors and social awareness among students at Imam University College.
The research community consisted of students at Imam University College for the academic year (2024-2025). The current research sample consisted of (100) male and female students randomly selected. The researcher constructed a rumor scale consisting of (16) items. She also constructed a social awareness scale consisting of (19) items. The researcher extracted the psychometric properties of the validity and reliability of the two scales. After completing the test, the researcher used statistical methods appropriate to the nature of the current research to extract the psychometric properties of the research tool and results, namely chi-square, the second test for one sample and two independent samples, and the Pearson correlation coefficient.
The results showed the following :
Rumors do not affect Imam University College students. -
-There are statistically significant differences in the rumor scale according to gender variables.
Imam University College students are socially aware. -
-There were no statistically significant differences in the social awareness scale based on gender variables.
-There was an inverse relationship between rumors and social awareness.
In light of the research results, several recommendations and proposals were formulated.
