Abstract

This research aims to determine the level of psychological stress among students at the University of Sulaimani according to variables such as gender, college, department, and academic stage. The study population consists of all students from the three faculties of education: the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Basic Education, and the Faculty of Humanities Education – Said Sadiq, as well as the University of Sulaimani. The total number of students in the research population is 1825, with 1342 females and 483 males. A simple random sample of 581 students was selected. The results showed that the overall level of psychological stress among students was high, with significant differences based on gender, department, college, and academic stage. The SPS program was used to analyze the data, where T-tests and Pearson correlation analysis were applied to examine the differences between variables. The research recommends providing personalized psychological counseling for students, organizing workshops on coping with psychological stress, increasing awareness about mental health on campus, and developing academic psychological support programs to enhance students’ overall performance and achieve a balance between academic and personal life. It also suggests increasing coordination between academic departments and psychological counseling centers.
