Abstract

After an extensive reading of the poetry Yakut al-Hamawi’s Mu’jam Al-Buldan (626 AH) in the Islamic and Umayyad eras, with the aim of searching for the effect of place in the manifestation of the purpose of pride in the poetry included in this book, it became clear that place has an effective effect in the manifestation of this purpose, as the places that witnessed the battles that took place between Muslims and infidels had a great impact on the poet’s psyche, which made him proud of those places through the victories that occurred in them. On the other hand, the poets’ attachment to the places and homes that they inhabited and loved had a clear effect in the emergence of the purpose of pride, as the poets were more proud of their homelands and homes that they inhabited and had beautiful memories of, with the aim of immortalizing them and their ancient glory through Their poetry
