Abstract

This research aims to explore the nature and types of play activities provided to children in kindergarten, and to evaluate the pivotal role these activities play in developing cognitive thinking skills. This was achieved by surveying the opinions and experiences of teachers involved in the educational process. The researcher adopted a descriptive approach, which provides a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon under study. The research sample included (30) teachers randomly selected from the kindergarten sector, ensuring an acceptable representation of viewpoints. A questionnaire was used as the primary tool for data collection, after verifying its validity and reliability to ensure results. Analyzing quantitative data using statistical tools such as relative weight and weighted average yielded significant results, confirming the clear positive impact of using various play activities in enhancing and developing cognitive thinking skills among kindergarten children. The research also revealed some obstacles and challenges that limit the use of educational games in kindergartens. The results also indicated that the effectiveness of educational games in achieving their developmental goals is significantly affected by individual differences among children and the characteristics of their social and cultural environment, which calls for consideration of these aspects when designing and implementing activities.
