Abstract

Human beings strive throughout their lives to live in tranquility and complete psychological comfort, through many factors at their disposal. Sometimes they seek happiness through wealth, sometimes through children, and sometimes through worldly gains. However, Allah (the Exalted) has made eternal happiness dependent on obedience to Him and avoiding His prohibitions. The world is not devoid of hardship and difficulty, and every person in this world is afflicted with calamities and tribulations. Therefore, we can say that Allah (the Exalted) instilled a sense of tranquility in the hearts of Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them) when they went to confront Pharaoh and feared his tyranny and injustice. Then came the call from Allah (the Almighty), dispelling their fear and replacing it with reassurance and guidance. Similarly, when the Prophet (peace be upon him) was calling his people to faith, Allah dispelled his sorrow and distress, and this was one of the means of instilling tranquility in his heart. Another example of tranquility in the Quran is the instillation of patience in the face of tribulations that surround the believer. Allah says that in these tribulations, one must be patient, for guidance and mercy from Allah are in patience. There are many other instances of tranquility in the Quran."
