Nationalization of Oil and its Impact on Labor Movement in Iran 1951 - 1953
Main Article Content
Abstract
The paper sheds light on the nationalization of oil in 1951 and its impact on the labor movement in Iran. Muhammad Mossadegh, emphasizes that this decision, despite its dangerous effect upon Iran in general, stemed from the conscience of the Iranian people, and thus won the satisfaction of the majority of workers; they came out in the form of groups to support that decision. However, economic conditions that followed this decision were very difficult according to many Iranian people in various segments. This is generated by the reluctance of industry and the resentment of investment in Iran by many countries—a matter that negatively affected industry, and thus the whole Iranian economy.
