Abstract

Samarra is one of the ancient and great cities and capitals mentioned by most Muslim historians and countries as one of the most important cities and capitals of Iraq in the Abbasid era, which is located on the Tigris River. It was mentioned in the pre-Islamic era, but its importance increased during the Abbasid period, especially after it was made the capital of the Abbasid state during the period of Al-Mu'tasim Al-Has, from the rule of the Abbasid state and made it the capital of Baghdad in that period after the Turks took control of Baghdad.
