The Impact of Urban Sprawl on Agricultural Lands in the Town of Tafouh Using (GIS) and (RS) Techniques

Abstract
The study aims to identify the impact of urban sprawl on agricultural lands in the town of Tafouh, explaining its causes and the major role played by natural and human factors in this.
These factors resulted in an increase in the population and expansion of the town over time, and the spread of urban development throughout the town after it had been concentrated in the center of the town until the year 2000 AD. This encroachment is still ongoing as the town lost approximately 1,476 acres of its agricultural lands during the study period from 2000-2022. This study followed the descriptive approach in studying and diagnosing the current urban reality in the town and the analytical approach in analyzing and evaluating the change in land uses and the factors affecting them and the impact of urban sprawl on agricultural lands in the town based on information and data, both quantitative and qualitative, from their various sources. The study reached a set of results and recommendations through which the main causes of urban sprawl in the town were identified and recommendations were made to limit this sprawl.
