The effectiveness of Vygotsky’s theory in developing the skills of the Art Education Department in Arabik calligraphy

Abstract
The subject of Arabic calligraphy and Islamic decoration is one of the basic and important subjects in the educational and pedagogical process, which is related to the student’s life because it is a basic factor in developing the theoretical and skill aspects, so we need to employ modern teaching strategies that help in developing the skills of students of the Art Education Department in Arabic calligraphy, represented by Vygotsky’s theory. Through the researcher teaching this subject in the Department of Art Education at the College of Education for Humanities - Tikrit University - he found a weakness in the students’ skills in Arabic calligraphy. Therefore, he conducted this research, which consisted of four chapters. The first chapter included the research problem, its importance, and its goal. The current research aims to identify the effectiveness of Vygotsky’s theory in developing the skills of students in the Department of Art Education in Arabic calligraphy. The research limits and definition of its terms, and the second chapter included two topics, the first topic entitled (Vygotsky's theory) and the second topic entitled (Arabic calligraphy). As for the third chapter, in order to achieve the research objective, the researcher used the experimental design with two experimental and control groups with a post-test of Arabic calligraphy skills on a sample of students from the Department of Art Education, numbering (84) male and female students distributed into two halls, one of which represented the experimental group and the other represented the control group. To reach the research results, the researcher analyzed the data using the (SPSS) program. The following results appeared:
1-The experimental group that studied according to Vygotsky's theory outperformed the control group, which indicates the effectiveness of this theory in developing Arabic calligraphy skills in the sample.
2-Adopting teaching according to Vygotsky's theory makes the teacher diversify the activities and teaching methods in the educational situation.
