Türkiye's position on the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region 1991-1999

Abstract
The research attempts to shed light on Turkey's position towards the Nagornoـــ Karabakh problem, which emerged after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, and the independence of the Soviet republics, especially Azerbaijan and Armenia, as the Azerbaijani Turks constitute the vast majority of the population, with 90.9 million people, while the rest are distributed between Russians and Armenians, and the official religion of the country is Islam. The conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia emerged over this region after the independence of the two countries, and the conflict developed into an armed conflict between them, which led to Turkey's effective involvement in the conflict due to its desire to maintain its influence and distinguished relations with Azerbaijan in its national, political and economic dimensions, in addition to its desire to demonstrate its direct role as an influential regional power in the Caucasus region in an effective and influential manner. The study, which was divided into four sections, covered the period 1991ـــ1999.
